This famed one-ring circus is a major arts institution in the East, but
in the mid-nineties it was still without permanent quarters. For a time, the company's rehearsal space was a collapsing hangar on an abandoned airfield in Queens, NY. So the Big Apple Circus started a $6 million capital fundraising campaign, with the goal of creating a base where the company could regroup and rebuild while rehearsing the coming year's program. |
Solution
We produced a seven-minute videotape that allowed prospective donors to see the proposed site without leaving their homes or offices. But most important, it let them see how it would be used, lifting the cover on the concentrated work it takes to create a world-class circus. The drive was
successful and
financed a facility in Walden, NY with practice rings, stables, exercise space and room for the more than eighty trailers where the artists and staff live. |
